Our History

Owner Vinko Markoski spent the first 13 years of his career working as an apprentice in a company that made windows and doors from recycled timber. He then went on to start his furniture-making business as a sole trader in 2008 and since then he has created Australian made recycled timber furniture. The business has steadily grown and now consists of 9 team members.

Sustainability is incredibly important to us and thus recycled timber is one of our biggest passions. We strive to minimise our environmental impact and we do this by using recycled timber and reclaimed wood to craft our designs and we love that it shows the character, textures, features and stories of their previous lives. Overall it assists in reducing the waste of chopping down trees and mass-produced furniture.

Most of the timbers we use in our designs come from old buildings, roof beams, rafters, stud walls, floorboards, joists etc. Some of the recycled timber comes from iconic Australian sites such as the MCG, Flemington Racecourse, the old Bonds factory in Smith Street, iconic pubs, factories and warehouses.

We here at ND Recycled Timber Furniture take pride in our work, where our workshop consists of many traditional and modern woodworking machinery and hand tools. We continue to use old fashioned joinery methods in our designs such as ‘mortice and tenon’, tongue and groove, housing, lap joins etc. to ensure we deliver the best quality products. All of the steel/metal frames and legs are made in-house by our metal worker, this allows us to get the best finish, structural integrity and bring together the timber and steel in our designs.

Within our range of tables and furniture, we incorporate pieces of reclaimed industrial crates, wine boxes and timber signs with unique methods, allowing us to use reclaimed wood. This also adds a special piece of history and becomes the key talking point of your furniture.

Our goal is to continue making Australian made furniture for life-lasting generations to come. We want to create family heirlooms using sustainable reclaimed wood, with joinery methods that are unique and timeless designs making them a one of a kind piece.

We proudly display our range of custom designs and made to order furniture in our showroom at 386 Smith street Collingwood 3066.
